Gardens and Outdoors

Having a feel for all things Japanese we have had the opportunity to undertake some interesting and challenging projects as well as making things as simple as children’s picnic benches and garden planters.

The Japanese Residents Association in Hendon asked us to undertake the restoration of their memorial gardens including landscaping as well as providing wooden notice boards.

We have designed and built a large pergola, made and installed fence panels, have refurbished small gardens and installed decking.

Working outdoors is very different to being in the workshop but we still pay attention to detail and are satisfied when our customers are happy.

Simplicity is said to be the hallmark of Japanese furnishings... simplicity disguising a wealth of complex craftsmanship, in effect. Both of these attributes are amply evidenced in the Andon Lamps made for me by Shades of Japan. Cheap they are not: stylishly elegant and true to their own material characters they most definitely are. To say I'm happy with Glenn's craftsmanship would be an understatement.
